Panya at Ala Moana is one of our favorite eateries. Its a European Bakery/Bistro done in a Japanese style. Its unique pastries (try the tuna doughnut - it's like a malasada with tuna inside) and broad range of dishes are real winners. It's also a bar and they have great happy hour pupu specials.

Goji Berry - The New Noni

First it was Noni, now its Goji. The new thing on the health front from my in laws is Goji Berry juice. This berry will cure high blood pressure, lose weight, give you energy. All it takes is 1 oz a day.

Cross Cultural Peanuts

I have been eating a lot of the Sabritas brand Cacahuates Peanuts. They are mexican iso peanuts (The label says Japones (Japanese) Style!) . Its what you would probably expect of an mexican iso peanut - a spicy crunchy peanut. I like the mash up attitude of this snack. Try em!

Chicken Meatballs

New at Costco: Aidells terriyaki pineapple chicken meatballs. These rock! They have a teri burger taste and are low in fat. Honorable mention to the Tyson Itallian Turkey Meatballs at Safeway. They are great for spaghetti. Eat less beef and enjoy life longer!

The New Wal Mart is Here!

I went to the Pearl City Wal Mart this past Sunday. It was during the superbowl and it was still very very crowded. Then entrance is noticably different with steel architectual elements making it look more at home on the mainland. Inside, the polished concrete continues to present a different image of Wal Mart than we are used to in Hawaii.

Other than that its just your typical Wal Mart.

Wahoo Fish Tacos

Wahoo Fish Tacos just opened up on Ward Ave. It features a bunch of burritos and of course, fish tacos. In Hawaii, this place seems like a new concept, but actually the mainland is full of these types of eateries. Baja Fresh, La Salsa, and my favorite Chipotle all feature made to order burritos and fresh salsa. If compared to these I give WTF a "C". WTF is different in the fact that they promote fish as their primary ingredient although they offer chicken and beef. Quick note: Pass on the grilled and go for the blackened spicy.

Wolfgang Pucks Self Heating Latte

I just bought a can of Wolfgang Pucks Mocha Cafe Latte from Safeway for $2.99 more or less out of curiousity. It is amazing technology but I wonder how much waste it creates. As far as the taste it's definitely not Starbucks but its more like 7 eleven. Marginal thumbs up.
